The UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) and PASCAL International Observatory cordially invite you to the first joint webinar within a series of five on “Learning Cities: COVID-19 recovery, from research to practice”, to be held on 17 June at 1300 CET, and builds on the work of the 4th International Conference on Learning Cities. The webinar will focus on the challenge of inclusion in learning cities.
The Management Group of Learning Cities is currently planning a Virtual Festival for 1-2 July 2020.
Below are some guidelines and examples of how we think the Virtual Festival might look, this is not an exhaustive list but the start of a learning curve (a deep one I would imagine!).

PASCAL International Observatory, whose European base is at the University of Glasgow, is engaged in a range of activities around the world. These includes a major collaborations with the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning, a forthcoming webinar series, Learning Cities COVID-19 recovery: from research to practice, led by CR&DALL director, Mike Osborne.
The COVID-19 pandemic is shaping our lives in many ways. This includes our private situation as well as our engagement as adult educators around the globe. We as DVV International feel that in this situation there is a growing need for communication and exchange. Recognizing this, we decided to start a serious of Video Podcasts with adult educators from various regions and sectors.
UNESCO and the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) continue to support Member States during this time of crisis to ensure that learning does not stop. During the past month, UNESCO learning cities have shared their experiences in facing current challenges through webinars on issues such as distance education, refugees and migrants, and health, as well as through video interviews.
CR&DALL Director, Professor Michael Osborne, recently contributed to a UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning webinar on the role of universities in the face of COVID-19. A summary of the content of the webinar and a recording can be found on the UNESCO UIL site and is also included below.
"Learning and Living in Diverse Communities" was the theme of the conference that took place in the House of Civic Communities in the city of Pécs, Hungary, in June 2019. It was the 11th conference which the specialized network on “Between Global and Local – Adult Learning and Communities” of the European Society on the Research for the Education of Adults (ESREA) has been organizing ever since 2006.
