Connected", the 15th Adult Education Conference (Volkshochschultag) will address the three major issues of the future that pose new challenges for us politically and socially, and thus also for adult education. For almost two days, more than 800 colleagues from our Adult Education Centres (vhs), international guests, representatives from politics, business and academia, as well as cooperation partners from adult education and other areas of civil society to exchange experiences, will meet in Leipzig to discuss and develop new ideas for the practice of Adult Education.
We are a global alliance of networks, associations and organisations for adult learning and education (ALE). We recognise the fundamental importance of ALE for justice, well-being and change. While Agenda 2030 identifies lifelong learning (LLL) as critical to attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ALE which is a significant part of LLL, is largely invisible. For ALE to be seen, understood and valued, we need to advocate for greater involvement and investment by governments, donors, private sector, international organizations, and social movements.
